How good are the Halco Laser Pro’s when it comes to the rip and stop technique for those explosive near-surface strikes! They have been designed so that when the cast weights move to the rear of the lure, it will pilot the lure in a straight trajectory from where you have launched it.

When you start to retrieve the lure, the weights will lock in place back towards the front of the lure. Try pulling the lure very fast through the water, using the rod action. Let it pause slightly and retrieve the slack line. Repeat this process until you have got a solid hook-up.
